Job: Assistant Producer / 2nd Assistant Director
About the job:
AP / 2AD required for an independent horror film. We need a combined AP / 2AD for an immediate start on our feature-length horror film. The first event to deal with is shooting the proof-of-concept trailer in June. Our film is a dark relationship thriller with undertones of magic realism that slowly evolves into an all-out shock horror film. In your AP capacity you'll be working in a close-knit production team on rehearsals, locations, shooting schedule, call sheets, casting & weekly reminders.
About the participants:
As 2AD you will be expected to perform standard 2nd AD duties on set. The main shoot is being shot in stages over the next few months and involves prosthetics, puppets, creature suits, squibs, projectile vomiting, blood & gore effects, simulated road accidents, abstract dance, animatronics, pyrotechnics, miniatures, mattes, scale models, digital extensions, greenscreen, drone photography, underwater filming, and photography involving dollies, cranes, gimbals and jib arms, so it's a nice opportunity for someone who wishes to gain experience in those fields.
The film meshes together live-action, animation, digital plates, back-projection, super-8mm projection, and VFX to create a visually striking screen experience. We love the films of Gaspar Noe, Nicolas Winding Refn, David Cronenberg, David Lynch, Dario Argento & Federico Fellini and our project very much exists on a similar genius-insane axis, we are driven and inspired by that off-beat spirit. Offered: credits, catering, accommodation, footage, materials, and a back-end profit share based on how much money the film makes. We are very active in producing behind-the-scenes photo & videos so you would be welcome to use that material for your own personal website/showreel. Once the proof-of-concept trailer is finished we intend to move straight onto the main shoot and you'll be offered a role on that if all goes well. We will issue you a contract, NDA, and profit-share agreement for all stages of your involvement.
This is a complex project with many interdependent elements working together, consequently, this role requires a focussed, energized individual who isn't afraid of hard work. You will be joining an established team, many of whom are experienced industry professionals, and will be expected to jump in at the deep end. For the right person with the right attitude, this is an ideal opportunity - perhaps for a recent graduate or someone looking to expand their credits & experience in independent feature films. Interviews are being held via zoom over the next two weeks.
Candidates must be based in London on the tube and available for weekly production meetings. If interested, please reply to Toni Meinz with an example of your recent work.
